Any shot you can get at their back (without their shield) you take. With their infantry unable to catch you, you can pelt them with missiles. Also, as the enemy infantry is trying to chase these harrassers down, you should looks for gaps in their formation through which your medium cavalry and skirmisher cavalry can rush through to charge and destroy the enemy missile troops. Your mobility allow your horsearchers to mass at any given point far easier than infantry missile troops, with an ability to shoot on the move and the ability to shoot all around you, you can find yourself strafing single enemy missile units with multiple horsearchers, which will net you a win. Meanwhile their infantry will be too slow to catch up.

You can harrass the enemy cavalry with your horsearchers, draw them out and then flank them with your own more numerous melee cavalry, usually getting in a good charge while peppering the enemy's exposed side.

Here's where skirmishers cavalry and medians (or similar) shine. I do this by drawing out the enemy cavalry that by all right will be far less numerous than my own due to their army being infantyr-based. Skirmisher cavalry is also not to be sneered at and can wreck enemy elephants, chariots and do quite well vs enemy horse-archers too due to their shield and ability to keep pace with javelins coming after the enemy. Heavy cavalry, if you manage to hold them back to later on, can devastate demoralised infantry that's been damaged and turned around by horse-archers.

I've found the mobility most important, mobility and a flexible mix of cavalry.ĭon't go just for horsearchers, some medium cavalry like Medians will be important for charges and giving a response to enemy attacks.
